Targeting antimicrobial resistance through bacterial adhesin research

StraDiVarious is a European doctoral network studying strain variants of ESKAPE pathogens to develop rapid diagnostics and identify therapeutic targets.

StraDiVarious overview

EU-funded doctoral network training 15 researchers across 10 institutions

Four integrated work packages spanning genomics, cell biology, structural analysis, and device development

Targeting ESKAPE pathogens through bacterial adhesin analysis

Academic-industry collaboration including pharmaceutical partners

Developing rapid point-of-care diagnostics to distinguish virulent from colonising strains

36-month fully-funded positions with cross-sector secondments

Adhesin variation analysis for pathogen virulence prediction

Our hypothesis centres on how small structural variations in bacterial adhesins modulate virulence between strains, enabling us to distinguish "killer" from "coloniser" variants through integrated multiscale analysis.
